COLONIE – Donna E. DeFreest passed away at her home on Thursday, February 28, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Albany and lived in Colonie for most of her life. Donna graduated from Russell Sage College as a Registered Nurse which was her lifelong vocation. She worked with the Eddy Visiting Nurses Association from where she retired. Donna was a volunteer paramedic with West Albany Ambulance and a volunteer paramedic and firefighter with Colonie Village Fire. Dept.
She is the loving daughter of Jeanette DeFreest and the late Donald E. DeFreest. Donna is the beloved life partner of Denise Schultz. She is the cherished mother of John Schultz and the devoted sister of Lori (Benjamin Rondeau) DeFreest. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held on Sunday, March 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Truman's Restaurant, 1647 Central Ave. in Colonie. At the family's request, memorial contributions would be appreciated to the Kathy Buffaline Memorial Patient Care Fund, c/o Northeast Health Foundation, 2224 Burdett Ave., Troy, NY 12180 in memory of Donna E. DeFreest.
