Troy
Donna M. Mullen, 75, formerly of Poestenkill, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Guilderland, on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Born in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late Marie and Donald L. Dunham. She was the devoted wife (for almost 53 years) of John W. Mullen.
Donna was a proud member of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (General Peter Gansevoort Chapter), (the DAR) and a life-long employee of New York State, where she held various steno positions, retiring in 2002 from the Office of the Professions, Board for Nursing. Donna started her career with the state, just after graduating from the Averill Park High School in June 1964. Her state career began with the Department of Public Service and then she moved on to the Education Department, where she worked for the State Board for Medicine. That's where she met and married her husband, John, who had just returned home from a tour of duty in Vietnam, in August 1967. She married John on June 7, 1969; as they say, it was the summer of love.
Donna enjoyed traveling both in the US and internationally. Donna was an avid reader and loved all kinds of sports. She was a long time Yankee fan. Above all, she cherished spending time with her family and many friends.
Donna is survived by her husband John and only child, Lisa Mullen-Powers (Gerard), Sister Ruth Dunham-Denue and two Sisters-in-law Elizabeth A. Mullen-Taylor, of Troy and Mary Kay Mullen-Albert (William) of Albany. Her parents were the late Donald and Marie Barnum-Dunham. Donald, was a proud, US Army, decorated (BS and CIB) WWII Veteran.
