Donna (Frechette) Schraa, 66, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Born August 12th, 1956, in Albany, New York, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha (Durkee) Frechette.
Donna attended Albany High School and then worked a career in retail and loan underwriting. She retired early to care for her many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and the children of lifelong family friends. Donna enjoyed going to Popham Beach, Maine with her best friend, Kim, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She appreciated the little things in life. Being in her presence was a gift, a light, and a comfort. She gave onto others without hesitation, without expectation, and without judgment. A woman whose heart was pure.
She is survived by her husband Michael Schraa Sr. of Scotia NY; three children, son Michael (April) Schraa Jr., daughter Melanie Schraa, daughter Shannon (Tim) Schraa, and her siblings: John (Laura) Frechette, Ronald Frechette, Sandra Tolbert, Francene (Vosco) Hicks, and Marcus Frechette. She is also survived by her beautiful grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Ellis hospital, especially her nurses; Katelyn who showed so much compassion on Donna's last day and Bella, who Donna referred to as "her angel", you both will always be in our hearts.
Friends and family are invited to attend memorial visitation on Thursday, March 2nd, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with a Celebration of Life to begin at 6:00pm, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, NY 12205.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Donna's name to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital by visiting, www.stjude.org.
