Colonie----Donna Sherrard Markey Squadere passed away peacefully on April 22, 2018. She was born in Manchester, Vermont on October 19, 1937; the daughter of Mildred and Cozac Markey. She married Francis Robert Squadere of Latham, New York on May 6th, 1961.
Donna is a graduate of Burr and Burton Seminary in Manchester and Albany Business College. Donna was a Grant Writer for the Department of Physiology at Albany Medical Center and the Medical Records Director for Community Health Plan of Albany (CDPHP).
Donna is survived by her husband of 57 years; Frank Squadere of Colonie. Also the loving mother of three; Michele Squadere Burke of Niskayuna, Brian Squadere of Rotterdam, and Suzanne Squadere Montalbano of Happy Valley, Oregon and by her seven grandchildren Brianne, Ryan and Thomas Burke; Scott Squadere; Nicholas, Sofia and Lucas Montalbano; brothers David Markey of Bend, OR and Donald Markey of Greenville, SC; loving in-laws Maurice Burke, Jody Shlomo, Steven Costell, Cindy Squadere, Mark Montalbano and her faithful dog Fredo.
Donna enjoyed a prosperous life of 80 years with great friends and family. She was an avid golfer and always in high spirits while on the course. She enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, and spending time at the beach. Donna's constant thoughtfulness, continuous compassion, calm nature, and beautiful smile will never be forgotten. Donna will live on in the legacy of her family and in spirit as our angel. We will forever celebrate her life by cherishing our beautiful memories of her. Her grandchildren have named her the "Greatest Nana that has ever walked the earth."
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her calling hours on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Her funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 26 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Avenue, Colonie. Interment will follow at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
