Doris Bender, 80 years young, of Carman Rd. Guilderland NY, passed away early Sunday evening (her favorite time of night) July 14, 2019.
She was born September 15, 1938, in Staten Island, NY and raised in Amsterdam, NY where her parents the late Richard Thompson and Edith Norman ran the SPCA, always surrounded by animals she loved.
She was a '55 graduate of Wilbur H. Lynch High School. Upon graduating, she immediately worked for GE, where she was employed for many years. She was an avid reader, Girl Scout Leader and Softball Coach.
She was will be missed by all who survived her: Candice (Gordon) Rockstroh, Kelly (Samuel) Vavala, Paul (Janet) Clairmont , Matthew (Heather) Bender; her grandchildren: Tracy (Curtis) Hassenpflug, Nick Rockstroh, Rebecca (John) Schmiederer, Melissa Vavala, Michael Vavala, Kimberly Clairmont and Steven Clairmont; great grandchildren: Anthony and Samantha.
Her care is entrusted to New Comer Funeral Home.
A Christian Mass will be at St. Madeline Sophie Church, 3500 Carman Rd., Schenectady, NY 12303 on July 19th at 10 a.m.
