ALBANY – Doris E. (Olander) Choppa, 79, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at the Albany Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Doris was born on December 6, 1927 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary J. (Gray) Olander. She worked as Principal Stenographer for the NYS Division of the Budget for over 25 years before retiring in 1985. She was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Her hobbies included swimming and bowling. She enjoyed tracing her family roots and created a genealogy book to share with those she loved along with many photo albums.
Doris is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John P. Choppa; her son, Glenn S. Choppa; her daughter, Janet M. Schoen and her husband Neal W. Schoen; her grandchildren, Kyle Schoen and Michael and Cristy Choppa and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.), then to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 10 North Main Avenue, Albany where services will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery, Albany. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
