Doris Stekeur, 85, went home to the Lord on Saturday morning, February 22, 2014.
Doris was born January 4, 1929 in Burlington, NY, the only daughter of Earl and Pearl Meacham. She spent most of her adult life in Colonie, NY with a few years in Honolulu, HI until moving recently to Springfield, IL.
She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband of 60 years William (Bill) Stekeur and one daughter Judith Ann.
She is survived by "her three girls" and their husbands Cheryl "Cherie" and Tom Cassidy of Colonie, NY Linda and Pat Logan of Springfield, IL, and Eileen and Sandy Thompson of Norwalk, CT, her wonderful grandchildren Kristin (Bill) Schaefer, Danielle (Travis) Musgrove, Christopher Thompson and Emily Thompson and her beloved great grandchildren Collin Allen, Tessa and Hailey Musgrove.
She is also survived by her true friend Jill Stulmaker.
Doris spent many years working in various office settings and volunteering at the Colonie Village Senior Center. She and her husband loved cruising. Doris loved her jewelry, crocheting, a good Manhattan and anything green!
Doris's favorite room was the kitchen where she loved to cook and bake. She had a huge collection of cookbooks that she added to regularly.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Colonie Village Senior Center, 2 Thunder Road, Colonie, NY 12205 in Doris's memory.
Funeral Services will be on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 11:00 am at New Comer Cannon funeral home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie. Calling hours will be Friday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Memories Gardens, Colonie.
