COLONIE-Doris J. Osterhout, 94, passed away suddenly at St. Peter's Hospital on Friday, May 6th, 2016 with her loving family by her side.
Born in Herkimer, NY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Viola Miller and sister of the late Donald R. Miller. Doris was predeceased by the love of her life and soul mate of 71 years, Walter W. Osterhout.
She is survived by her children; Diane (David) Simons, of Plainville, CT, Dean (Karen) Osterhout of Latham, NY, and Denise (Raymond) Palmer, of Scotia, NY, her cherished grandchildren; Deidre (George) Schilling, of Plainville, CT, Heather (Chris) LaBarge, of Latham, NY, Lauren (Aaron) Neer, of Clifton Park, NY, Ryan (Tiffany) Osterhout, of Loudonville, NY, Amanda (Jason) Gingras, of Latham, NY, and Jason Palmer, of Scotia, NY, her 9 loving great-grandchildren, her two special nieces; Susan Castledine and Christine DeWitt, and her cousin, Stewart Miller.
Doris was a proud and devoted volunteer for the St. Peter's Hospital Meals on Wheels program for over 30 years. She was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church and served on various committees. Doris loved the ocean and the family tradition of vacationing on Cape Cod each summer.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, from 12:00pm-1:30pm with a service to immediately follow. Burial will take place at Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie, NY.
