Doris M. Rybak

September 16, 1924 — January 22, 2015

BURNT HILLS-Doris (Heckler) Rybak, 90, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2015 at home with her family by her side. Doris was born in Schenectady to the late Rubin and Julia (Dadez) Heckler. In addition to her parents and two sisters, she is also predeceased by her husband, Louis J. Rybak and her son, Frank L. Rybak.
Doris was known as one of the "Heckler Girls", she was born into a family of five girls and one brother; Harold Heckler (predeceased in WWII), Betty Heckler (predeceased), Elsie, Margie, and Ellen Heckler. Doris was a graduate from Burnt Hills Ballston Lake High School class of 1942. During WWII, Doris served as a WAC (Women's Army Corps) following the death of her only brother Harold during WWII in Germany.
Doris is survived by her three children and her seven grandchildren; son Harold (wife Jacquelyn) Rybak with grandchildren Jacob Rybak, Cassandra Rybak, daughter Denise J. (husband Dennis) Trombley with grandchild Michael Fuller, son John (wife Maxine) Rybak with grandchildren Allie Rybak, Megan Miano, Katie Miano, Matt Miano and Andy Miano, many nieces and nephews and her dog Cricket.
Doris was a devoted mother, she sacrificed everything for her children, and there was nothing she would not do for anyone she could. Our mother did not know the word "can't" she bestowed this word upon her children and grandchildren. When Doris set her mind to do something she absolutely achieved that goal and beyond. Doris loved attending her boy's football and baseball games, coaching her daughter's softball team, being a Cub Scout Leader for her grandson, taking the train to see her grandchildren in Buffalo-when we hear a train whistle blow we think "here comes Grammy's train." Doris took pleasure in the simple things life offered her, seeing her grandchildren grow-up, watching her flowers bloom in the spring, planting her vegetable garden, seeing the fresh white snow cover on the trees during winter. Our mother's light shines on in the many lives she has touched for so many years.
On January 22nd, Doris received her wings, flying high with her family members who have left before her. She is reunited with her mother, father, brother, sister, son and many others once again; she is looking over her family in heaven and those of us still on earth as she always has done.
The family will be gathered at Newcomer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 9 to 10 AM with a funeral service to immediately follow at 10 AM at the funeral home. A graveside prayer will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery on Glenridge Road where Doris and her son Frank's ashes will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to Alzheimer's and or Hospice.
