TROY - Doris C. Malinowski, 75, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Samaritan Hospital.
Doris was born on January 30, 1942 and was the daughter of the late George and Clara (Crayer) Kluchesky. She attended Troy high through the 10th grade and in 1982, proudly received her GED, proving to her children that "it's never too late".
She worked most of her adult life as a dental assistant and office manager, which she enjoyed very much.
Doris loved life and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She enjoyed traveling, and never refused an invitation to go on a road trip. She understood life was a gift that should never be taken for granted. She especially loved taking tropical cruises with her sisters and friends. Thankfully, she was strong enough to embark on one last Las Vegas "girls trip" with her daughter and friends just weeks before her passing.
She adored her large, extended family, and appreciated spending time with them all during the many family gatherings that took place. Doris is the loving mother and mother-in-law of Bob and Daniela Malinowski, Marie and Eric Smallman and the late Christine Malinowski; grandmother of David Toback, devoted sister to Barbara (the late Joseph) Asadorian, Dolores Soultanian (her twin), Marie (Ron) Patton, Pat (Thomas) Evans, and the late George Kluchesky. She was the loving and adored aunt to many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and a dear friend to many. As a devoted lover of pets, she will be missed by her grand dogs, and the many dogs and cats she babysat for.
As an active and dedicated community member, Doris was a communicant of St. Michael's Church in Troy; served as president of the Eastside Seniors, and was an active member of the Troy Elks Club. She was a lover of games, an avid team Bocce player, and a whiz while playing along at home during the game show Jeopardy. She especially enjoyed weekly card games with her sisters. While these card games were low stakes (for pocket change), she would often claim, "They always take my money". She was not without a sense of humor.
Doris acted with strength and courage throughout her entire life, which was most evident during her toughest battle with Amyloidosis; she showed tremendous resolve and character with her positive attitude, and trademark smile that could light up any room.
Doris' family would like to thank the wonderful and dedicated nurses, aides, respiratory therapists and doctors of Samaritan Hospital ICU.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, 175 Williams Road, Troy. All are invited to attend.
Memorial contributions can be made to The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in loving memory of Doris.
