ALTAMONT – Doris E. Nicholas, 67, of Altamont, passed away at home on Monday, May 22, 2006 after a long illness. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Caroline Zimmerman. Doris had resided in the Capital District for most of her life. She owned Creative Fabrics, an interior design company, with her husband, while living in Florida. Doris enjoyed making crafts and giving them to others. She also enjoyed cooking and boating. Doris will always be remembered as being a very kind and generous person, always caring and helping others. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond A. Nicholas. She is the devoted mother of Richard A. Whitbeck, Jr. and his wife, Janet. Doris is the loving sister of Lois White and her husband, Howard, Patricia Bauer and her husband, Kenneth and Dianne Guarneri and her husband, William. She is the cherished grandmother of Faith and Hope Whitbeck. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Colonie.
