Doris Rachel Thomas was born July 22, 1960 in Schenectady, New York to John Albert Thomas and Bernice McElroy.
Doris was educated in Schenectady. Although she loved to travel, she was a life long resident of Schenectady. Doris loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews. Doris made friends everywhere she went. She was always the life of the party. Doris lived a very adventurous life. Anyone who knew Doris knew she did what she wanted when she wanted-- and however she wanted.
Doris was affectionately known as, "Aunt Dot" to her generations of nieces and nephews. Doris loved to cook, and enjoyed eating even more. Doris worked various positions throughout her life, including Home Healthcare.
In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Diane Valencia McElroy, and her brother Ronald Howard Thomas.
She is survived by her sister Deborah Rosiland Thomas and Valencia Sadie (Ned) Williams, brother Ralph Donald Thomas, and her lifelong partner Gregory Rhames and his son, Dequadra Rhames.
Doris will truly be missed by many. We pray that God will continue to bless all of those that her unique spirit touched, and extend his love to the family.
A Celebration of Life service will take place on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 12-3pm at "Buggalo's", 1343 Albany St. Schenectady, NY.
