Doris Annette Waker, 85, was granted her angel wings, March 15, 2020. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Katie Harvey.
Her final days were spent surrounded by her daughter, grand daughter, church family and friends.
Doris (Dot) was born July 14, 1934 in Fremont, NC. She was raised there with her 8 siblings. She attended Fremont schools, where she played basketball. Doris earned her Cosmetology license from Payroll beauty school in Washington DC, before moving to McCellanville, SC with her husband Joseph. There she opened a beauty shop where she worked until her retirement.
She had a big personality, and made friends of everyone she met.Doris could always be counted on by family and friends, she wanted to help in any way she could. She loved life, and was active in the church from a young age, and one of her proudest moments was receiving her license to drive the church bus to take her "seniors" to their different activities.
Doris moved to Schenectady NY with her daughter, after the passing of her husband. She became a member of the Church of Christ on Russell Rd in Albany.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Arthenius, Eugene, Val, James Lawrence, and sisters Delores Spells and Murial Dickerson.
She is survived by her daughter, Carol Pendelton, Erica Pendelton, great grandson Amaury Pendelton, sister Sophia Boyette Suitland MD, brother William Harvey of Goldsboro NC. Doris also leaves to cherish her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, (sister) cousin Francis Banks, and countless friends and acquaintances.
