Dorothy Chaires

Dorothy Christine Chaires, age 94, of Schenectady, NY, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 26th, 2022.

Dorothy was born on December 1, 1928, to Florence Milledge and Robert Jones.

She dedicated over 26 years to service as an English teacher for the City School District of Albany. In doing so, she touched and invested in the potential of many lives. As the matriarch of her family, she leaves behind a rich legacy of education, important life lessons, and cherished memories for her family.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, ceramics, sewing, watching movies, attending creative writing retreats at Pyramid Lake and her cats. She was affectionately called "Mom" by those who held her dear.

She is survived by daughters; Claudia Fennicks and Wendy Brown, sons; Mark (Theresa) Chaires and Michael (Rebecca) Chaires Sr., 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 13 great great grandchildren, 4 great great great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her son Arthur David Chaires, 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Tuesday, January 3rd at New Comer Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY 12205. Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00pm. Funeral Service at 1:00pm. Burial following service at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna, NY.
