Dorothy Jane Davis, age 89, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of January 30th, 2022. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Schenectady, New York. She was the daughter of late Theodora and Joseph Przastek and the sister to the late Barbara Olshack. She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, William Davis.
Dorothy was employed as a salesclerk in the women's clothing department at Macy's of Colonie Center for 28 years. She was an avid reader and tole painter. She was a co-owner with her daughter of the small business, The Painted Door, where she sold her artwork at craft fairs and art shows. Dorothy will be remembered by those who knew her for her wit, her sense of humor and her infectious laughter that would fill up the room.
She is survived by her two children, Deborah Hahn (Daniel) of Loudonville and William Davis of Schenectady. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, David Hahn, Deirdre Hahn, DeAnne Sapel (Michael), Michelle Davis, and Susan DeRocher (Erik). Lastly, she is survived by her five great-grandchildren Lily, Emma, Isaac, Harper & Irena.
Calling hours will be held from 10am-12pm on Monday the 7th of February at New Comer Cremation and Funeral Home in Colonie. A service will follow immediately at 12:00 pm at the funeral home. From there, an immediate interment will take place at 2:30pm Gerald B.H. Soloman Saratoga National Cemetery where Dorothy will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Eddy Alzheimer's fund.
