Dorothy E. Snyder

Dorothy E. Snyder, 88, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at St. Peter's Hospice Inn. Born in Plattsburgh, NY, she was the daughter of the later Alfred and Elizabeth Lafountain.

Dorothy's greatest joy in life was her family and her home. In later years, she enjoyed many peaceful hours in her backyard under her maple tree watching her hummingbirds and cardinals that visited her bird feeders. Dorothy loved her watermelon parties with her great-granddaughter, Avery.

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Alfred V. Snyder. She devoted herself to her husband's care during his 6 year battle with Alzheimer's. Dorothy cherished the memories of their 2 trips taken to Hawaii before his illness. She was also predeceased by her beloved grandson, Jeffrey Bogardus, and 6 siblings.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Kenneth (Dale) Snyder, and Diane Cottone; grandchildren, Richard (Alexis) Bogardus and Dawn Snyder; and great-grandchildren, Brody Bogardus, Aidan Bogardus and Avery Bogardus. She is also survived by her sister, Rose Baker, and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Hospice for their amazing care. Also, we would like to thank Dorothy's devoted caregiver, Geraldine, for the kindness, care and friendship she extended to Dorothy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Clare's Church, 1947 Central Ave, Colonie. Interment will be at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. There will be no calling hours.
