ALBANY-Dorothy M. Faranda, 69, of Prescott St. Albany passed away on July 2, 2012. She was born in Albany, the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Craig Powell. Dorothy resided in Albany all of her life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Spending time with her family was her greatest joy. She enjoyed cooking and also eating good food. Dorothy had a quirky sense of humor and enjoyed gardening along with butterflies. She loved to play games on Facebook and sharing meals with her family and friends. In addition, Dorothy enjoyed listening to music.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved children: Jeanne (Marshall) Lundgren, of Glenville, James (Claire) Faranda, of Glenville, Phillip (Beth) Faranda, of East Greenbush, Joanne (Jose) George, of Watervliet, and Brian (Jaime) Faranda, of Bluffton, South Carolina, her ex-husband and friend, Joseph Faranda, of Albany, her beloved 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Albert "Rick" (Wendy) Gibson, of Ballston Spa and John (Rhonda) Gibson, of Covington, Georgia and by her sister, Margaret Gibson, of Latham, along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 4 to 7 PM at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the funeral home.
Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Sand Creek Rd., Albany.
