Dorothy, "Dot" Hamlin, 94, of Schenectady passed away peacefully June 5.
She was born on May 5, 1926 in Halifax, N.C. to the late George Crenshaw and Ruth Jones Crenshaw.
At an early age, Dorothy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and thanked Him daily for all her blessings, seen and unseen.
Dorothy moved to Schenectady were she met and eventually married Forest Hamlin April 4, 1950. They shared 33 years of marriage until Forest passed February 1987.
Dorothy for many years was the private housekeeper for The Cohen's until the passing of Mrs. Cohen.
Dorothy was a devoted and longest attending member of Mt. Olivet Missionary Baptist Church when it started on Broadway to its current location Park Ave. She sang in the choir, her solo was "Shady Green Pastures", which never left a dry eye She was also a Church Missionary and mentored many young people of the Church.
In addition to her parents and husband Dorothy was predeceased by her twelve siblings: Helen Duggen, Nettie Mercer, Elizabeth Rivers, Nancy Hackaberg, Geraldine Crenshaw, Bertha May Powell, MaryLou Zuill, Earline Crenshaw, Gladys Crenshaw, Minnie Bell Wallow, Francis Crenshaw, and George William Crenshaw Jr.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her loving memory: her son Edward(Cyndi Page) Hamlin, her cherished granddaughter Krystal(Justin Goldsmith) Hamlin, cherished great-granddaughters Layla and Natalia, cherished youngest sister Maxine(Camp) Horton, cherished nephews Brian Zuill and Theodore Crenshaw and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews as well as a host of extended family, friends, and her Church family.
A Graveside service will be held Thursday June 11 at 2:30pm at Park View Cemetery, 40 Fehr Ave, Schenectady
