GUILDERLAND – Dorothy L. Almy, 81, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was under the care of Community Hospice of Schenectady.
Dorothy was born on August 31, 1931 in Albany and was the daughter of the late Edward Edwards and Julia (Kagel) Hay. She was a clerk for NYS Department of Parks and Recreation from 1978 until her retirement in 1993. She had a love for animals, especially her dogs, Bingo and Wilson.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, James J. Almy Sr.; her loving children, James J. (Annette) Almy Jr. of Ballston Lake and Suzanne L. Joslin of Guilderland; her cherished grandchildren, Rebecca (Chris) Derway, Tanya Wood, Michael (Suji) Almy, Billy Joslin IV, Jimmy Almy III, Jack Almy, and Stacey, Courtney, and Robbie Hoffman; her cherished great grandchildren, Izabell and Ian Derway; her brother, Millard (Eileen) Edwards and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
