Guilderland- With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothea Lennon on February 3, 2025. Born on July 6, 1934, in New York City, Dorothea lived a life full of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and friends.

Dorothea grew up in Millbrook, NY, where she formed lifelong friendships and cherished memories. She was a cheerleader and an avid sports enthusiast, playing field hockey, basketball and other sports. Dorothea married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Lennon, with whom she shared an incredible 69 years of marriage filled with love and devotion. Together, they built a beautiful family and created countless precious moments.

Dorothea is mother to two daughters, Pamela Karkenny (James) and Jacqueline Goebel (Scott), and grandmother to, Alexa Karkenny, Ashley Karkenny Furman (David), Connor Goebel, and Spencer Goebel. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, gardening, and biking. Dorothea had a fulfilling career, working for the Telephone Company and later for Travelers Insurance. In retirement, she loved biking in Vermont, Hilton Head, Cape Cod and Newport, Rhode Island.

Dorothea was the beloved daughter of Ettore and Filomena Bellone. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Edwina Hay (John), her nephew, Brian Hay (Nicole), and many other nieces and nephews. Dorothea will always be remembered for her warmth, generosity, unwavering support for those she loved, and her wonderful sense of humor.

A private family service will be held to honor Dorothea's memory. In lieu of flowers, please celebrate your family and enjoy their company as Dorothea cherished hers.

Rest in peace, Dorothea. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
