ROTTERDAM – Dorothy M. Verstreet, 99, a former longtime resident of North Syracuse and recently of Rotterdam, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 31, 2012, at Dutch Manor Nursing Home in Rotterdam. Born in Macedon, NY on August 9, 1912, she was raised by Maude and Bert Erhardt. Dorothy worked for many years before her marriage at Beech Nut in Rochester and later at Ma & Pa's Restaurant in North Syracuse for many, many years. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Elmer Verstreet in 1984 and her son, Albert Verstreet in 1982.
She is survived by her daughter, Marian Goard of Rotterdam, her grandchildren, Patricia (Peter) Severino, Evelyn (Jim Kelly) O'Brien, Kristin (Paul) McClosky and Mark (Valerie) O'Brien. Also surviving are eleven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in North Syracuse Cemetery. Memorial contributions would be appreciated to Covenant House, 460 W. 41st Street, New York, NY 10036 in memory of Dorothy M. Verstreet.
