Dorothy M. Zell

Colonie- Dorothy M. Zell, 91, passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the Albany County Nursing Home. Born in Albany she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Martha Koerner. Dorothy was an active person who enjoyed a variety of activities including square-dancing, traveling, gardening, carpentry, skiing, baking, and golfing. She had been a member of a number of senior groups and square dancing clubs in the area. Dorothy was proud to have actually square danced on top of the Great Wall of China. She was very influential in the lives of her family, especially her grandchildren. She took great pride in teaching her hobbies and skills to each and every grandchild. Dorothy is predeceased by her sister Muriel Sullivan, and her brother Theodore Koerner.
Dorothy is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years John R. Zell of Colonie; her two children, Lonie Wielewinski and her husband Phil of Colonie and Ralph Zell and his wife Rose Ann of Ormond Beach, FL. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jennifer Wright, Valerie Balga, Darcy Cyr, Brenda Yung, Debbie Cavanaugh, Laura Dennis, and Vicki Palmatier, 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 27th at 11:00 AM at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of Dorothy M. Zell.
