LATHAM – Dorothy R. Van Wagenen passed away Monday at her residence on her 95th birthday. She was born in Albany and was the daughter of the late Edwin and Cora Nellegar.
Dorothy had worked for the Colonie Town Library for many years. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and was know for her "Dottie" cakes. Dorothy was predeceased in 2004 by her husband of 64 years, Edwin J. Van Wagenen.
She is the mother of Edwin (Beverly) Van Wagenen and Jim Van Wagenen. She is the grandmother of Donna (Andy) Murphy, Steve, Jimmy and Larry Van Wagenen. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren. Dorothy is the sister of the late Evelyn Van Wie and Maurice Nellegar. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bill, Karen and Jim Childs for all of their help and kindness to Dorothy.
Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 4 to 6 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. A prayer service will follow at 6:00. Interment will be in Memorys Garden.
