Dorothy H. Thompson, 98, passed away December 20, 2022 at Kingsway Arms nursing home.
Born in Schenectady NY, she was the daughter of the late Orrie and Flora Smith. Dorothy was a graduate of Hudson Falls high school and later, when her son David was in high school, she graduated with honors from SUNY Albany. She went on to earn her Master's Degree from SUNY as well.
She loved to travel, some of her more memorable trips include Australia, New Zealand and China. Dorothy and her husband Samuel loved to travel to South Carolina every year, increasing the stay each time. She was also a longtime golfer. Dorothy was a board member of Girl's Inc organization, including being president at one point.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, H. David Smith and sister Marion Bessaw. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 56 years, Samuel Thompson, son David Smith, grandson Courtney Russell Smith and great granddaughters Harmony and Bella Smith as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be held at Eastern Parkway Methodist Church at a later date.
