Schenectady – Dorothy "Dottie" Wallace, 84, passed away Thursday October 16, 2008 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Dottie was born in Schenectady the daughter of the late William and Martha (Gunyup) Osborn and was a lifelong area resident. She worked for General Electric for over forty years. Dottie was a part of what Tom Brokaw refers to as the Greatest Generation. During WW II she contributed to the war effort, by performing what normally would have been men's work. She belonged to New Life Ministries of Schenectady and enjoyed bowling and ceramics. Dottie was a real pet person and especially loved her cats Thomasina and more recently Baby.
She is survived by her sister Eileen June (Millard Stafford) Edwards of Schenectady, nephew and nieces; William J. (Anne) Edwards of Orange Park, FL, Sharon L. (Ronald) Apholz of Ballston Spa, Virginia L. (William) Davis and Peggy S. (Gary) Beadnell both of Schenectady, 12 great nieces and nephews and 3 great-great nieces and nephews. Dottie was predeceased by her infant son William David Wallace.
The funeral service will be held Monday 1:00pm at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will precede the service from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady.
