Douglas Blakeman

Douglas Ramsey Blakeman, 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Doug was the son of the late William and Jean (Mcarty) Blakeman. Doug graduated from Averill Park in 1964 and later attended Hudson Valley Community College.

He was the devoted husband to Shirley (Rosenthal) Blakeman. They were married over 43 years.

Doug was a member of the Church of the Holy Name in Boyntonville, NY for over 30 years. Doug was a member of the fire department, and EMS, for many years in Pownal Vermont, before moving to New York.

He was a project manager with RPI for over 26 years, later worked with Albany Housing Authority.

He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, hiking, canoeing and spending time with his entire family. He was a man of all trades, willing to do anything for anyone.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased his brother Robert and his grandson Nathan.

Doug is survived by his wife Shirley, his children Aaron (Kim), Christy (Scott M.), Scott (Jackie) and Eric (Heather). His cherished grandchildren Samantha (Matt) Fleming, Kara Blakeman, Logan Blakeman and Lilyana Blakeman and his great-grandchildren Jaxson and Ryeighly Fleming. His brothers William (Donna) Blakeman Jr. and James Blakeman. He is also survived by his nephews and niece, William III, Kirsten, Jared, James and Brian.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at The Church of the Holy Name (Boyntonville) 33 Simmons Road, Hoosick Falls, NY at 2:00 pm. Burial will be private at a later date.

The family would like to thank, Dr. James Aram and Dr. John Verdi, for all their compassion, and amazing care, for Doug for many years
