COLONIE- Douglas Ronald Flint, 77, of Colonie, passed after a long illness at home surrounded by family on December 26, 2013. Born April 11, 1936, in Troy, he was a resident of Colonie most of his life.
Doug is survived by his loving wife and companion of 51 years, Rose Ellen Geoco Flint, whom he "loved her the moment I met her"; along with five of their seven children; Kelly Shaylor (Robert), Tracey Flint (George Sotos), Julie Turck (Jonathan Lindle), Kevin Flint (Dawn) and Matthew Flint; a sister Pamela Gawe Drotts of Kansas and, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Doug or "Douger" as called by loved ones was in the printing industry for over 30 years. Doug and Rose Ellen were enthusiastic travelers their entire lives.
Doug is predeased by his parents, Oliver Flint and Elizabeth Coulter Flint, a sister, Diane Flint Newhouse Baum and his eldest son, Daniel Douglas Flint and youngest daughter Erin Rose Flint.
Relatives and friends may call at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home on Monday, December 30th from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 31st 2013 at 10:30am at Blessed Sacrament Church, Albany. All are invited.
A celebratory gathering will be held at 47 Continental Rd. in Rotterdam on Saturday, January 4th at 2 p.m. Contributions may be made in Doug's memory to the Capital City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl Street, Albany, NY 12202.
