Douglas C. Gallager Sr.

Altamont- Douglas Gallager Sr., 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 26, 2021.
Born on January 27, 1932, in Albany, NY. He was the son of the late Gladys and Harold (Ritschel) Gallager. Doug was the loving husband of 59 years to Barbara Blozen Gallager, who predeceased him in 2020.
After graduating from Albany High School where he was a football standout, he went on to continue at Wake Forest College in NC. After graduating, he proudly served in the Army from 1954-1956. Doug worked for the NYS Senate for many years and was the owner of Ye Olde Tavern in Albany and Gallager's in Herkimer. He was an avid golfer and loved to bowl but his greatest joy was cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events and dance recitals. Douglas is survived by his two children, Douglas Jr. (Theresa) and Susan Cleary (Michael), five grandchildren, Nicole, Tommy, Kayla, Chrissy and Willie, brother, Richard Gallager (Lois) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Joyce Stangle and brother Harold Gallager.
