Albany- Douglas K. Gray, 91, passed away peacefully at his home on November 25, 2022.

Douglas was born on August 24,1931 in Albany, NY. He was a graduate of Albany High School, and proudly served his country as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps. from 1952 to 1954. Douglas spent his career working at the Norton Company in the Coded Abrasives Department located in Watervliet, NY.

He met the love of his life, Joanne Mochi Gray, at the Protestant Young Adult Meeting Group (P.Y.A.) located at the former Calvary Methodist Church in Albany. On July 6, 1960 Douglas and Joanne married and went on to have two children, Nancy and Mark. In 1996 they welcomed their grandson, Blake.

Douglas and Joanne enjoyed spending time with friends they met in the P.Y.A. group, as well as attending plays, the opera club at Siena College and broadway shows. They loved to dine out frequenting many different restaurants. Douglas and Joanne were avid travelers, and especially enjoyed trips to their timeshares in Loon Mountain, NH and Williamsburg, VA. The memories made on these trips will live on with family and friends. Douglas also enjoyed his time as a member of the Romeo Club held at the Normanside Country Club and the Rotterdam Elks Club.

Douglas is survived by his daughter, Nancy Rafferty (Jim Beach); son Mark Gray; son-in-law Matthew Rafferty; grandson Blake Rafferty (Carlie Jostlin); brother-in-law Jerry Melucci; sister-in-law Jeanne Tartaglia; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Joanne; parents Kenneth and Ada Gray; and sister Linda Melucci.

A celebration of life will be held privately at a future date.
