Douglas B. Keir entered into eternal peace on September 4th, 2011 at 57 years old on Blodgett Hill Road where he grew up and raised his two sons. Doug was predeceased by his beloved parents Louise E. Keir and Hugh Dunn Keir.
Born in Ravena, NY on March 18th, 1952. For 27 years he worked at Old Castle Precast as a Shop Foreman. Doug was an avid outdoorsman with deep respect for the outdoors and everything that lived in it, loved hunting, competition 3-D shooting, working on cars with his sons bragging who had the fastest car, teasing, laughing and the highlight of his life was creating wonderful memories with his grandchildren. He always had a helping hand for his friends, family and anyone who needed him. He was also a member of the Coxsackie Sportsman Club.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Cynthia Anne, on November 6th, 1971 and was lovingly married for 39 years. Doug is survived by his two sons, their families and Cynthia. Scott Douglas Keir (wife Jennifer Keir), and Jason Barry Keir (wife Victoria Keir). He is also survived by his grandchildren Kristen Nicole, Megan Noel and Makenzie Ivy. His surviving brothers and sisters and their spouses, Donald M. (Naomi) Keir, Hollace (Edward) Gervais, Hughlyn (George) Derway, Louise (Michael) Di Lonardo, Timothy (Linda) Keir, Sandra (Arnold) Yerry, and Robert (Charla) Keir. He is also survived by an expediential number of Nieces and Nephews. Doug was remarried to Julie Keir in March of 2011.
Calling hours will be Saturday, September 10th, 2011 at the Coeymans Hollow Methodist Church, State Route 143, Coeymans Hollow 12046, from 9:30 – 11:30 with a service at 11:30. A covered dish gathering will follow.
