Douglas A. Myers, Sr.
November 8, 1933 — March 27, 2017
Albany- Douglas A. Myers, Sr., 83, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 with loving family by his side. Doug was the son of the late Cornelius and Cecilia Myers. Doug was the devoted husband to the late Rachel Myers.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was admired for his artistic talents. Doug was also an avid Yankee's fan and enjoyed entertaining family at holidays. He worked many years as a butcher and subsequently as a roofer.
Doug is survived by sons Douglas A. (Karen) Myers, Jr. and Adam Myers; his grandchildren Chelsea, Christopher, Rachel, Carley, and Andrew Myers; two great-grandchildren; siblings Cornelius (Beatrice) Myers, Thomas (Mary) Myers, Mary Ellen DiTonno, and several nieces and nephews, as well as Kay Fox, his loving companion of over 25 years.
Doug was predeceased by his son, Andrew Myers, and siblings Arthur Myers, June Paley, and Ronald Myers.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Funerals & Cremations, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie, NY on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 11:00 – 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 12:00pm. Interment will immediately follow the service at Our Lady of Angles Cemetery, Central Avenue, Colonie, NY.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
