VOORHEESVILLE – Douglas R. Freer Sr., 63, of Voorheesville, passed away at his residence on Wednesday January 9, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born in Auburn, NY and is the son of J. Kenneth Freer and the late Dorothy Somes Freer.
Doug worked as a heating and air condition technician in the capital district for over forty years, most recently with DiGesare Mechanical. In his leisure time, Doug loved to fish on his boat in upstate NY and when on vacation in Rhode Island.
He is the beloved husband of Shirley J. Freer. Doug is the devoted father of Douglas R. Freer Jr (Elizabeth) and Kenneth E. Freer (Debra). He is the brother of Cynthia Fuller. He is the step father of Kimberly (Brian) Miller, Michael Lans and Keith Lans. He is the grandfather of Elizabeth and Matthew Freer, Lyndsay and Jacob Miller, Danielle and Anthony Lans, Daniel and Christopher Woolsey and Mathew Selvaggi. Doug is also survived his canine companion "Sam".
Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services in celebration of Doug's life on Saturday January 19, 2008 at 1:00 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 12 noon to 1:00 at the funeral home.
