Altamont- Douglas Howard Shultz , 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 with his loving family by his side. He was the son of the late Elmer and Carrie Shultz. Douglas was the devoted husband to Sarah L. Shultz. They were married 34 years.
Douglas enjoyed spending time with his entire family and enjoyed making them laugh. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races on Sundays, playing poker, singing along to "oldies" in the car and shower and spending time with his dogs. He was the ever "kid at heart" and enjoyed frequenting the toy store with his children. He also enjoyed collecting just about anything. Cars were a passion of his and he enjoyed the art of buying one as much as he did driving it. He also took pride in coaching high school baseball and pitching countless hours of batting practice. Many of his sons' friends viewed Doug as another friend that they could talk to and joke with about anything. And that's how he wanted it. He also believed in hard work and enjoyed working on maintaining his rental property. He would often work harder than his doctors thought he should. He was firm in his beliefs, and some may call it stubborn, or as his dearest friend came to nickname him - "stone head". His biggest gift that he could receive was seeing those around him, especially his family, happy. He loved his wife Sarah and would often say he got "one of the best". Their love was evidenced by the sacrifices they made for each other. Douglas was a man of strength. He was brave and courageous in sickness. He had a "no quit" attitude and was a fighter until the very end. And that's the way he wanted it.
In addition to his wife, Douglas is survived by his sons, Michael (Julie) Shultz, John (Brittany) Shultz, and Joseph (Deborah) Pezzolla; grandchildren, Magnus, Gunner, Addison, Sophia, Olivia, Eva, Elijah and Noah; his niece and friends.
