ALBANY- Dr. Samuel Oro Otitigbe of Albany passed away on Sunday December 16, 2007.
He was born in Jesse, Nigeria on October 6, 1942 Samuel came to the United States as a Fulbright and McKnight Educational Foundation Scholar. He received his bachelors in journalism from the University of Minnesota. Throughout his undergraduate study, he worked as a foreman for the USA Railroad. Samuel received his master's in journalism from Ohio University. He received his Ph.D in speech and mass communications from the State University of New York at Buffalo. For several years, he also served as a West African correspondent for the Advertising Age.
He will be missed by family and friends.
Samuel was a dedicated Jehovah's Witness and member of the Colonie Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Josephine Ovadje-Otitigbe and five children; Jessica, Jennifer, Eto, Noro, and Obaro. He is also survived by his granddaughter Onovu.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at noon on Saturday at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Saturday morning from 11 am to 12 noon at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park immediately following the funeral service.
