COLONIE – E. Ronald Cassin, 78, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2012. Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Frederick and Marion (McNamara) Cassin. He was a graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy and in the first graduating class of Hudson Valley Community College. Ron served his country in the Naval Reserves and worked for the New York State Office of General Services from where he retired. He enjoyed spending time in Boynton Beach, FL for many years with his wife. Ron had close ties to the Christian Brothers and was proud that his sons graduated from Christian Brothers Academy. Ron was a member of the Colonie Elks, Polish American Citizens Club and a social member of the Fuller Road Volunteer Fire Dept.
Ron is the beloved husband of 57 years to Jeanette B. (Madonna) Cassin. He is the devoted father of Karen (Hugh F.)Casper of Ballston Lake, Ronald Cassin of Rexford, Fred J. (Jennifer) Cassin of Colonie and Michael P. (Karen) Cassin of San Jose, CA. Ron is the loving brother of Gail Ellegate of Oneonta. He is the cherished grandfather of Matthew and Stefanie Casper, Nick and Kayla Cassin, William and Emily Cassin and Sophia Cassin. Also surviving is his niece, Dorothy Razzano as well as many other nieces, nephews and many dear special friends.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). A calling hour will precede the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens, Colonie.
