COLONIE – Earl Wayne Jones, 83, of Colonie, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2006. He was born in Albany and raised in Rensselaer. Wayne was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran serving for four years during World War II. Mr. Jones retired from Amtrak after 44 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post #1610 and enjoyed painting and reading. Wayne is the beloved husband of 54 years to Sarah T. Brady Jones. He is the devoted father of William Jones and his wife, Laurie, Pamela Snyder and her husband, Ross, Mary Kleege and her husband, Mark and Kim Gravel and her husband, Steve. He is the brother of Betty Jane Van Wormer and the late Harold and William Jones. He is the cherished grandfather of Ross Snyder, II, Sarah (Stan) Horaczk, Kelley and Brian Jones, Kyle Kleege and Sam, Ben and Ethan Gravel. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Wayne was the son of the late Harold and Cora Jones.
Funeral services will be Friday morning at 10:00 at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave). Calling hours will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, Upstate New York/Vermont Chapter, 6 Automation Lane, Albany, NY 12205 in memory of E. Wayne Jones.
