E. Wayne Van Buren

E. Wayne Van Buren, 60, passed away Friday May 15, 2009 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Albany and is the son of the late Elmer E. and Margaret Van Buren. Elmer had worked as a Medical Gas Handler at Albany Medical Center Hospital for many years and was a proud member of the "slackers club" at the hospital. He was an advocate and believer in Union Labor and had been instrumental in trying to get a Union started at the hospital. Elmer was also an animal lover his entire life.

Elmer is survived by his children: Melissa A. (Robert Dames) Van Buren of Albany Erica L. (Terry) Van Buren Walter of Niskayuna, grandchildren: Marshall Van Buren, Cody Walter and Nathan Walter, sister Joyce (Andy) Koonz, brother-in-law Gordon James and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his devoted wife Susan in 2006 and his sister Carol James.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00am at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie, (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). Calling hours will be Sunday from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park, Colonie.
