Endicott – Earl H. Johnston, 84, died peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at The Waters of Endicott.
Earl was born on December 29, 1921 in Albany and was the son of the late James and Florence Oliver Johnston. He served in the US Navy during WWII, attaining the rank of Motor Machinist's Mate Second Class.
Earl worked as a production supervisor at Borden Dairy in Watertown for 32 years before retiring in 1983. He also worked for NY State for 14 years.
Earl is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sandra (Cavanaugh) Johnston; his children, Barbara Sellick of Westmere, James (Jan) Johnston of Loudonville, Irene (John) Pendleton of Colonie, Wes (Leslie) Johnston of Clifton Park, Earl Johnston of Rodman, William Johnston of Hinesburg, VT, Tammy (Chris) Walker Hanrahan of Brackney, PA, Kimberly (Jeff) Bancroft of Watertown, and Travis (Rachel) Johnston of Pensacola, FL; his brother, Walter Johnston of No. Adams, MA; 27 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Louise (Meyer) Johnston, his son, Kenneth Johnston; his sisters, Jeanette Johnston, Eleanor Lockrow, Violet Nitsky and Marie Acker and his brother, Seymour Johnston.
The family would like to thank The Waters of Endicott for the wonderful care they gave him while he was there.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Interment will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon-Saratoga National Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
