Earl L. Miller

March 12, 1959 — July 13, 2022

SCHENECTADY, NY — Earl Leon Miller, 63, of Schenectady, NY passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY
with his partner and loving family beside him.

He was born March 12, 1959 in Malone, NY, the son of Helen(Blow) and Roland E.Miller. Earl is survived by his loving partner of 25 years Stephen Kennedy Smith. He also had 3 fur babies at home that he considered his kids.

Earl Miller was a beloved pet owner and advocate at an early age. In high school he was in FFA, swim team, and the National Honor Society. He would show cows at FFA functions and county fairs. After graduating from Northern Adirondack Central School in 1977 he attended SUNY Cobleskill and received his AAS in Animal Husbandry in 1979. He also Studied at West Virginia University for 2 years.

Earl was an exceptional cook but what he mastered was baking. This was not his profession but anyone who has the privilege to have a cake made by him knew he should have had a bakery. From cookies to cakes to homemade bread you could feel all the love from his cherished family recipes. He continued his love of baking for many years. He continuously worked on developing his skills and mastered designer cakes and wedding cakes. He also taught adult baking classes at local high schools. He also loved and was extremely proud of his humble beginnings in the Northern Adirondacks.

Coming from generations of such a hard working agricultural family a garden was a must. March started with the spring cleanup regardless of the
temperature. April flowers purchased some seeds planted and by Memorial Day weekend vegetable garden planted. The anticipation of that first homegrown tomato was exciting. Living anywhere else except in the Northeast was never an option for Earl enjoying every season especially
Halloween to Easter. Decorating was such an art form from beautiful flower arrangements, specialty wreaths and theme trees name the season pick your motif. No problem done ready or put up. Name the hat that you requested and Earl would put it on and make it fit. A true jack of all trades.

Typical Earl went on to his next interest which was caring for and helping people. He started his career at Albany Medical Center in 1985. Earl rose through the ranks from a food service manager to a devoted, compassionate PCA to one of the chief Material Coordinators. He trained all new hires while maintaining his own units. He was responsible for assisting all levels of patient care, always keeping standards while never hesitating to lend a helping hand to fellow co-workers. Earl truly showed AMC his dedication and commitment during our National health care crisis of Covid 19. He was presented with AMC Care Ambassador Award on July 11, 2022 briefly before he transitioned to an Ambassador to God.
