COLONIE – Earl Bishop, Sr., born July 26, 1943, died peacefully at his home in Colonie on July, 26, 2014.
Earl served his country in the United States Army, and the rest of his days serving his family, friends, and those who earned his respect. He was a rebel, a survivor and above all, a man.
There are many words that come to mind when we try to define a man. Strong, tough, fair, wise and invincible are a few that are chosen to define this man. But as we know, actions speak louder than words. Through Earl's actions, everyone that knew him would agree – he was a man that traveled through this life on his own road, and lived his life by his own rules.
Earl's actions would speak of a man who loved his wife, provided for his family, cared for his children and was loyal to his friends. Earl was a true survivor in every sense right to the last day. Although his time here on earth has come to an end, his spirit will continue to inspire us to live life to the fullest, travel our own roads, and live by our own rules. His actions spoke louder than all words, and may his actions live on through all of us.
Earl was survived by his children; Earl Bishop, Jr and Marjorie Bishop; step-children Peter Smith (Diane) and Patricia Lanahan (Tim); grandchildren Austin and Erika Bishop, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
