Albany- Earling C. Nelson, 83, passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.
Earl was born in Albany, NY on January 17, 1935 to the late Earling and Harriet Nelson. Earl was a union electrician for IBEW 236 for over 60 years. Over his career he worked on many notable projects including the ski jump at the 1980 Lake Placid Olympics, and in and around the Capital District. In 1955 Earl married the love of his life, Phyllis. They were married for 49 years until her passing in 2004. Together they raised four sons. Earl will be remembered for his creativity, his patience, bargain hunting, and spending time with his friends and coworkers. His passion in life was fishing, and being with his family.
Earl is predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis.
He is survived by his sons, Mike (Catherine) Nelson, Jeff (Wendy) Nelson, Brian (Mary Elizabeth) Nelson, and Tim (Debbie Morrison) Nelson, his eight grandchildren, Andrew, Ben, Kerri, Taylor, Gabrielle, Jessica, Erika, and Lauren, his great granddaughter, Adiranna, and his sister-in-laws, Barbara DelGreco, Patty Palubicki, and Joanne Perriman.
Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205, on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 3:00pm-6:00pm with a service to immediately follow.
