Colonie----Mr. Eddie C. Walker of Colonie, NY, transitioned home to the Lord on Friday, March 16, 2018. He bravely fought cancer for 12 years. He was born in Hamilton Georgia on December 21, 1948.
He served in the US Army Special Forces Green Berets and the 173 Airborne class in Ft Benning, GA. He was awarded the Army's Bronze Star and various other medals for his service. He received the NYS Conspicuous Service Cross from Governor Hugh Carey. He was employed by Ford Motor Co, Conrail, and finally retired from G.E. as a Training Leader, MOC Coordinator and Site Safety Program Chairman after 33 ½ yrs. with the company. He also received the Albany County Traffic Awareness Committee's "Award of Excellence" in 1996, the Capital Region SAFE KIDS Coalition's "SAFE KIDS Champion Award", and in 1988 he received the G.E. Gerald Philippe Award in recognition of distinguished leadership in community service, at the time having the most volunteer hours as a G.E. employee worldwide.
Eddie is survived by his wife Deborah Anne Walker, Daughter Kenyatta Hopson, Daughter Rachel M. Kahn (Will Kahn), Son Devin B. Walker, Sister, Lillie Taylor (Robert Taylor), Stepdaughter Aiyana Lane (Barry Sisson), Stepdaughter Michaela Lane, Stepson David Jacobsen (Jessica Jacobsen), Grandson Jonathan Sisson, and Aunt Beretha Epps. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Jannie Pearl Walker, Father Jimmy Clyde Walker, Sister Wynetha Jackson, and Annie Pearl Mullins.

Calling hours will be held at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet on Wednesday, March 21 from 4PM-7PM. Home-going Services will be Thursday 10AM at the funeral home with interment following at 12:30 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery with Military Honors.
