Edith Severino

SCHENECTADY – Edith (Janetta) Severino, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2013. Born in Boonton, NJ she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Teresa Janetta. Edith was employed by Mohonasen High School as chief cook for more than twenty-five years. Her home cooked Italian meals were enjoyed by family and friends. She enjoyed spending time in her yard which was well manicured and beautiful.


In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Louis Severino Jr. in 1995. Edith is the beloved mother of Donna (John) Striss and Gail (Roger) Riccio. She is the cherished grandmother of Brian Hamm and John (Jessica) Striss and the loving great-grandmother of Wyatt Striss. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Edith loved her family above all else and would do everything to enrich their lives. The family wished to extend a special heartfelt thank you to Dr. David Hornick, Craig Ritchie and Val for their excellent care and loving compassion throughout her illness.


Funeral services were private at the convenience of the family. Interment was in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association in memory of Edith Severino.
