COHOES - Edward J. Butler Jr., 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Edward was born on September 16, 1940 in Troy, son of the late Edward J. Butler Sr. and Emily (Ellett) Butler. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1958 to 1961, attaining the rank of Seaman. He worked as a welder for General Steel in Latham for 30 years. Edward enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and photography. He raised his sons in Lansingbugh volunteering with little league, Boy Scouts and high school sports.
Edward is survived by his loving children, John (Anne) Butler of Latham, Bryan Butler of Green Island, Scot (Stacy) Butler of Beachwood, NJ and Kevin Butler of Albany; his cherished grandchildren, Catherine, Abigail, Holly, Shannon and Colin; his sister, Alyne (Edward) Butler of Kelowna B.C.; his sister-in-law, Marie Glavin of Troy and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 41 years, Rose (Miller) Butler.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 10 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Road, Watervliet. A service will beheld on Monday, July 11 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.
