Edward D. Cionek

SCHENECTADY- Edward D. Cionek, 85, of Schenectady passed away on Wednesday September 25, 2013 at Ellis Hospital. He was born in Amsterdam and was the son the late Urszula Cionek.
Ed served in the US Navy during WWII. He was employed for many years at General Electric Company and more recently at Union College. Ed was horse racing enthusiast and enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Thompson Cionek. He is the stepfather of Linda Wescott, Deborah Apruzzese. He is also survived by a brother, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Glendale Nursing Home for all of their kind and compassionate care.
Funeral services will be private. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Amsterdam. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Edward D. Cionek.
