MENANDS - Edward F. Himes, 58, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2009 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
Edward was born on February 20, 1951 in Troy and was the son of the late Edward F. and Philomena R. (Mitchel) Himes. He worked as a teacher's assistant for Wildwood Programs in Latham for 10 years; prior to that he worked for the Times Union. He was a volunteer fireman with the Village of Menands Fire Company # 1.
Edward is survived by his children, Edward and Kimberly Himes; his sisters, Carol (Christopher) Abatto and Mary (Todd) Horton. He is also survived by an aunt, an uncle, several nieces and nephews and two great nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home 343, New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to Our Lady of Assumption Church, Latham, where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
