Colonie- Edward F. Mock Jr., Ned to his family & friends, died suddenly Friday, October 23, 2015 at home. Ned, a long time Colonie resident, was the son of Edward and Catherine Mock and graduated from Cardinal McCloskey High School. He served in the Navy proudly from 1969 to 1972 aboard the USS Jason where he made two tours to Vietnam. After the service, he became a pipefitter with Local 7. He was proud of his 45 year union membership and continued to be active after his retirement by serving on the Apprenticeship Committee and chairing the Retirees Club.
Ned was a life member of the Sheedy Palmer VFW and a member of the American Legion Joseph E. Zaloga Post 1520. He was also a member of the Garden Social Club of Albany, the Vagabond Club of Green Island, the NRA, and the Voorheesville Rod and Gun Club. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and craft beer enthusiast. He also enjoyed bowling and held the national high single game title for sixteen year olds with a 296.
Ned is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marie Colgan Mock and his children, Brendan, Justin and Mary Catherine (Mia) as well as his siblings, Judi Hull (Tim), Rich Mock (Cris) and Bob Mock (Lou). He also had many, many close friends who will miss him greatly.
The wake will be held on Tuesday October 27, 2015 from 4:00pm-8:00pm at New Comer Funeral Home. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Ambrose Church at 1:00pm on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 with burial immediately after at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
