ALBANY – Edward G. Hurlburt, 80, of Albany, passed away on Monday April 23, 2012 at St. Peters Hospital. He was born in Astibula Ohio and was the son of the late Edward G. and Jane Tobin Hurlburt.
Ed was a 1949 graduate of Albany High School and served in the US Navy as a signalman during the Korean War. He began his banking career with First Trust, Bankers Trust Company and First American Bank before retiring in 1989 as an Administrative Officer. He operated LetEdDoIt as a home improvement contractor until his retirement in 1998. Ed was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus #173 and served as a trustee for 12 years. He was a longtime communicant and former Eucharistic minister at Holy Cross Church (now All Saints) in Albany and Sacred Heart Church in Lake George. Ed was a member of many bowling league for several years and was the Past President of the Albany Mended Hearts Chapter #13.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Kathleen Mahoney Hurlburt; three daughters, Kathleen (Michael) Dietz of Powder Springs, GA., Ann (James) Malone of Albany and Rosemary (Gerald) Gavin of Latham; his sister Elizabeth Comfort of Lee's Summit, Missouri; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday morning at 9:00 at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 pm at New Comer Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie. Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery.
