Albany – Edward S. Grotheer, 76, passed away Sunday June 15, 2008 at the Stratton VA Medical Center Hospital.
Edward was born in Flushing, Queens, NY the son of the late Edward and Doris Grotheer. Edward was a veteran of the US Army having served in the Korean War, and when he returned worked as a Longshoreman at the docks in Harlem. When he was a young man he met and married Nickolina Cucco. They moved to Port Washington on Long Island and started their family. Nickolina predeceased Edward having died in 1984. Later in life, he liked to travel and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his daughters; Margo Schweitzer and JoAnn (Philip) Giambruno and his grandsons; Nicholas Schweitzer and Anthony Giambruno.
Funeral services will be held 12:30pm Thursday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave.). A calling hour will precede the service from 11:30 to 12:30 at the funeral home. Interment will be at Saratoga National Cemetery.
