Edward A. Gulbrandsen

August 6, 1937 — February 15, 2024

Glenville- Edward Gulbrandsen, age 86, died peacefully on February 15, 2024.

Edward held many titles in his life, from electrical engineer to baseball coach, but his favorite role was being a husband, father and then Grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Ed was born in Brooklyn NY on August 6, 1937, to Sophie & Edward Gulbrandsen. Eddy,
affectionally called during his childhood, lived with his parents, two brothers Robert and George,
and grandparents. After he graduated as Valedictorian of Alexander Hamilton Vocational High
School at the age of 17, he and his two brothers made a road trip across the United States to
see the nation's beauty. Shortly afterwards, Ed met the love of his life, Antonina Viola. They
married on June 14, 1963, and eventually settled upstate to take a job as an electrical engineer
at Con Edison's Power Pool. During the warmer months he would ride his bicycle to work so
Nina could take the children to activities.

Edward's love of the outdoors prompted him to have his house built in a cul-de-sac forested
neighborhood to ensure his children could grow up in a safe fun place where they could connect
to nature. After work you could find him hitting fly balls to his children in the back yard or taking
them hiking in the woods across the street. Every summer Ed and Nina would take their family
camping up in the Adirondacks, where he taught his children to swim, fish, and canoe. Many a
time, he would take them hiking one of the nearby mountains. He was a selfless extraordinary
man, who always gave time to help others.

His love of baseball could be found as he played catcher for a team during the first few years of
his marriage and then later as he coached a little league team, Wadsworth Lodge. With a house
full of ball players, he spent almost every day at the ballfields either coaching or routing for his
children's team. Eventually Ed and Nina moved into a retirement home after all his children
grew up. Everyone loved him at the Judson Meadows Community, where he knew everyone by
their first names.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Sophie Gulbrandsen. Brother George Gulbrandsen.
His infant son Joseph Gulbrandsen.

Edward is survived by his wife of 60 years, Antonina Gulbrandsen, his children Michael
Gulbrandsen, Patricia (Gary) Longnecker, Kathleen Kelly (Tom Billsborrow), John (Linda)
Gulbrandsen, Paul (Angela) Gulbrandsen, David (Danielle) Gulbrandsen, Thomas (Amy)
Gulbrandsen, Nicholas Gulbrandsen (Tara Imrie), Melissa Gulbrandsen, his grandchildren
Andrew, Ariana, Gabrielle, Morgan, Austin, Eric, Will, Jessica, Toni Marie, Vincent, Davyn, Trinity. Brother Robert and sisters-in-law Anita and Marylynn.
